Whilst undertaking fieldwork in the Simpson and Timboon area I thought I would check out the Ball and Chain Hotel Motel in Simpson. I thought it was time to change my Camperdown accommodation routine. The motels rooms are clean neat and tidy and very reasonably priced. My $100 per night got me fresh juice and milk in the fridge, a range of cereals and tea/ coffee facilities and toast. From the outside it does not look very inviting but as the old saying goes, don’t judge a book by its cover. The bistro is bright and looks to have been recently updated. It’s also very well liked by the locals so a booking is recommended even on a Wednesday night, as it’s Parma and pot night.
